Man charged with aggravated burglary in Dartford

A man has been charged in connection with an aggravated burglary which led to a huge police presence for several days.

Police were called to a house in Wentworth Drive, Dartford, at 8.08pm on Sunday, November 20, after reports of several people breaking into the home and stealing things from inside.

A woman who was in her 70s was inside at the time but wasn't hurt.

Bakay Behdjet, 31, of Montacute Road in Catford, was arrested on Saturday, November 26 and has been charged with robbery.

He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, November 28 where he was remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Tuesday, January 3.

Another 31-year-old man from London was arrested on Wednesday, November 23 and has been released on bail until Tuesday, January 24.

A 35-year-old man from Swanscombe was arrested on Friday, November 25 and he has been released on bail until Wednesday, December 28.

Since the incident, several police vehicles have been in Wentworth Drive and there has also been visits from Kent Fire and Rescue teams and a bomb disposal unit.

Inquires surrounding the incident are ongoing.
