Officers attended to find two large bags of rubbish and wooden pallets blocking the route.

The road was closed to traffic and a crew from Kent County Council's (KCC) highways team also attended.

A KCC spokesman, Ellis Stephenson said: “We received a report of fly-tipped rubbish in Cotton Lane on the evening of Thursday, August 26.

“To allow the road to stay open, officers have moved the rubbish safely to the side and arrangements have been made for it to be cleared early next week.”

Stone parish council was informed and posted on social media to say it is already installing new CCTV as part of its new £1.3m community centre development.

It hopes this will cover the lane as much as possible to "capture vehicles responsible for these unacceptable acts".
