Restaurant hub including Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Ed’s Easy Diner and Harry Ramsdens opens in Crayford Sainsbury's

Supermarket customers can combine the weekly shop with a meal out after a "restaurant hub" opened in a Sainsbury's.

The choices at the Crayford branch include dine-in, takeaway or delivery – and the arrangement is just the fourth of its kind in the country.

Sainsbury's and Boparan Restaurant Group have collaborated to create the new dining destination, which is called The Restaurant Hub.

The new location is the fourth food hall format to open in a Sainsbury's store, with the others being in Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Sydenham.

The Restaurant Hub includes five popular brands under one roof – Caffe Carluccio’s, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Slim Chickens, Ed’s Easy Diner and, in collaboration with Deep Blue Restaurants, Harry Ramsdens.

This means shoppers have a range of different food options – from burgers and fish and chips, to freshly brewed coffees and pastries.

The launch is part of Sainsburys' plan to transform its dine-in, takeaway and home delivery offer.

Rhian Bartlett, Sainsbury’s food commercial director, said: "We’re delighted to have opened our fourth ‘The Restaurant Hub’ in partnership with BRG, which will give customers in Crayford the chance to enjoy a meal in-store, or at home, from a great selection of restaurant brands.

"We’ve worked together to create a destination we think our customers will love and I’m looking forward to hearing what they think.

"We’ll continue to roll out The Restaurant Hub to more locations in the coming months, as part of our wider ambition for Sainsbury’s stores to inspire and delight our customers with great value and distinctive, tasty food."

The Restaurant Hub opened on November 22, and is upstairs where the previous Sainsbury’s restaurant used to be

Satnam Leihal, who is CEO of Boparan Restaurant Group, said: "Customers have enjoyed the option of being able to order multiple choices of varied food and beverages in one order.

"Our goal is to enhance our customer’s culinary experience – we look forward to welcoming and serving our new customers at Crayford for years to come."
