Recovery vehicle tending to crash on M20 near Swanley hit by car leaving man with serious injuries

A man is suffering from serious injuries after his roadside recovery vehicle was hit by a car - just as it was tending to a separate collision.

Police were called to a crash involving three vehicles at 6.51pm yesterday on the M20 between junctions 1 for Swanley and 2 for Wrotham on the coastbound carriageway.

Shortly after at 8.34pm, a further incident was reported that one of the vehicles assisting with the recovery had collided with a car while assisting at the crash site.

A man, aged in his 40s, suffered serious leg, back, and abdominal injuries.

Police closed the road while paramedics tended to the casualty. He was taken to King's College Hospital in London via ambulance.

His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The road was reopened at 11.16pm.

No injuries were reported in regards to the initial crash.
