Dartford boss Tony Burman admits reaching the Blue Square Bet South play-offs has been his No.1 priority this season.

The 4-1 win over Basingstoke at Princes Park on Monday night may have cut Woking’s lead to only nine points, but Burman believes a 16-point advantage over sixth-placed Eastleigh is a more important statistic.

He said: "It’s still a massive gap between us and Woking and you can’t see them losing that advantage because they have been outstanding this season.

"The play-offs have always been our target. Monday was our game in hand and we wanted three points to maintain the gap over the chasing pack ahead of a busy March."

Burman said: "We knew it would be tight but he got to the ground at 6.45pm, just in time. I was pleased for him because his work rate is tremendous. The first was a great strike and his third was quality."

Dartford travel to Kent rivals Tonbridge on Saturday. It’s the third meeting between the clubs this season, Darts winning 2-0 in the league and 4-2 after-extra-time in the Kent Senior Cup last month.

Lee Burns is doubtful with a ligament injury, picked up against Salisbury on Saturday.
