Temple Hill Primary School in Dartford sends home Year 2 group after positive Covid-19 case

A primary school has sent home a Year 2 group following a positive Covid-19 test.

Parents and carers were asked to collect children at Temple Hill Primary Academy in St Edmunds Road, Dartford at their "earliest convenience" this afternoon.

It comes after an email was sent confirming a child in a Year 2 bubble had tested positive for coronavirus.

The decision was made to send children home as they mix at different points in the day through their classes and break times.

It explained the risk "could be considered low to individual families", with two staff tests over the weekend coming back negative.

Pupils in the Year 2 bubble will not be able to return to school until June 29, it added.

Garry Ratcliffe, chief executive of the Galaxy Trust, which runs the primary school and two others in Dartford, said: "I can confirm that a year two bubble has been closed at Temple Hill.

"We continue to keep children and staff as safe as possible in school, which includes enhanced hygiene measures and full compliance with the guidance issued by the Department for Education and the NHS."
