A man was punched in the face in an unprovoked attack which left him needing extensive surgery.

The police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened on Friday (May 25), at the Air and Breath night club in Dartford, to get in touch.

The 20-year-old victim was in the bar area of the night club in Essex Road at about 1.30am when he was punched in the jaw.

He collapsed, and was taken to hospital where he had extensive surgery to repair his jaw. He needed four metal plates inserted in his jaw to help fix his injuries and was released after three days.

Police Constable Balraj Somal said: "The first this young man knew was the extreme pain from being attacked as he collapsed to the floor. This was an unprovoked and cowardly act.

"We ask that anyone who may have see this assault or may have any information that may help our investigation, to contact us.'

Anyone with information can contact Kent Police on 101 quoting reference XY/16254/12 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
