Multi-vehicle crash sparks heavy traffic near Dartford Crossing

All lanes have now re-opened following a multi-vehicle crash on one of the busiest routes in Kent.

However, traffic is still slow to clear after the two lane closure on the north-bound stretch of the A282 on the approach to the Dartford Crossing following the earlier collision.

National Highways teams and police officers are were at the scene of the incident, which caused gridlock between the M25 at the Darenth Interchange and Princes Road and delays of almost 30 minutes.

A Kent County Council spokesman confirmed: "Two lanes are blocked between M25 Darenth Interchange and Princes Road due to a road traffic collision.

"Emergency services are attending.

"There are long delays on approach.

"Allow extra time for your journey."

The incident was dealt with by 1pm, and delays cleared a couple of hours later.

A police spokesman says one person sustained minor injuries during the incident.
