LONG tailbacks into the Dartford Tunnel were caused after an accident on the M25 in Essex.

Kent Air Ambulance went to the aid of one shocked casualty who had become so agitated and aggressive that he had to be anaesthetized by a doctor.

The accident, between a car and lorry, happened at about 4.40pm on Thursday between Junctions 29 and 30.

The male patient was trapped in his car but had been freed by the time the Kent team arrived. An Essex land ambulance crew had asked for air support.

The London air ambulance (the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) also arrived with a doctor as the patient was placed on a long board.

A spokesman for Kent Air Ambulance said: “The patient was agitated but able to answer all questions, although aggressive. The doctor decided to anaesthetise the patient and took over the patient care.”

The doctor flew with the patient in the Kent Air Ambulance to the Royal London Hospital.

A KAA spokesman said: “This was a good team effort involving multi-county ambulance services, the Kent Air Ambulance and London HEMS.”
