Police were called to the Dartford River Crossing early yesterday morning after reports of a man on the bridge.

It is believed the man had stopped his car in the middle of the QEII Bridge and was climbing the railings before he was stopped by officers from Essex Police and crossing staff.

The bridge had to be closed for around half an hour at 6.35am.

A spokesman for Essex Police said the 20-year-old man was taken to Darent Valley Hospital with an injury to his hand.
