Man killed, another critical after head-on smash

A YOUNG man has died and another is critically ill in hospital after a head-on collision between two cars.

Fire crews from Dartford and Thameside were callled to Green Street Green at about 8.45pm on Thursday.

The two young males, thought to be in their late 20s, had to be cut out of the same car after the crash in wintry conditions. The condition of the occupants of the second car is not known.

The second male was taken to Dartford's Darent Valley Hospital after firefighters battled for up to three hours to complete their rescue.

The road was closed after the smash and police are now investigating the incident.

It is the fourth fatal car crash in as many weeks in the Dartford and Gravesham area and a spokesman from Kent Fire and Rescue urged drivers to take care and stay vigilant in the wintry conditions.
