Man 'critical' after shooting horror

A MAN is still in a critical condition in hospital after being shot twice in the face near the Déjà Vu Nightclub in Swanley.

Police and an ambulance crew were called to the night spot in London Road at the weekend.

The victim, 39-year-old Pieter Willem Martinus Verslui, from the Netherlands, was taken to the Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup where he underwent extensive surgery.

It is believed that Mr Verslui travelled over from the Netherlands on Friday and stayed at the Travel Lodge in the Docklands area of London. He then travelled down from London Victoria station to Swanley on Saturday.

The shooting occurred on a grass verge. A man in his thirties, wearing a red jumper and a baseball cap, was seen running away from the scene towards bushes next to the night club.

Police are appealing to witnesses or anyone who may have information to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact North Kent police on 01474 331055 ext 3582 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
