Man in Fiat 500 caught at Dartford Crossing with shopping bag containing £90,000 worth of cocaine

A man has been caught with almost a kilogram of cocaine in a shopping bag as he attempted to travel over the Dartford Crossing.

Marian Dinca was stopped driving suspiciously by police on the approach to the bridge in Kent just before 6pm on Friday.

Officers searched his Fiat 500 and recovered a shopping bag containing around 900 grams of a white powder.

It was later confirmed to be cocaine worth up to £90,000.

A large quantity of cash totalling £12,500 was later uncovered following a search of the driver's home address and a number of mobile phones were also seized.

The 26-year-old of Ambleside Drive, Leicester was arrested and an investigation launched by the joint Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.

Dinca appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court today where he faced charges of possession with intent to supply cocaine, being concerned in the supply of cocaine and acquiring and using criminal property.

He pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody to be sentenced at a later date.
