Air ambulance called and traffic held after two-vehicle crash between Swanley and Wrotham

The M20 had to be closed after a serious collision involving a van and a crane lorry.

All traffic was temporarily held after an accident between the Swanley Interchange and the A20 turn-off at Wrotham.

At around 1.45pm, police were called to the collision involving a van and a crane lorry on the coastbound carriageway between junctions one and two.

Cars were held from around 2.20pm and an air ambulance was called in.

Two men have been treated for injuries and were taken to hospital. One of them is understood to have serious injuries.

The M20 was reopened by about 4pm after being closed coast-bound between junctions one and three.

The London-bound carriageway was also blocked between junctions one and two and also reopened by 4pm.

The road is now clear – some delays still remain.

National Highways estimates the road will be clear by 6.15pm.
