Neither side could break the deadlock as Dartford were held to a goalless draw at minnows Leiston in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

More than 800 supporters watched the closely-fought contest at the Eastern Counties League Premier Division side's Victory Road ground.

Dartford - three leagues above Leiston in the football pyramid - controlled the opening quarter and had a strong penalty appeal turned down in the 12th minute. Moments later, Charlie Sheringham's (pictured) shot was kept at bay by a fine save from Jamie Stannard.

Leiston eventually forced their way into the match, testing John Whitehouse and the Darts defence three times before the break, and hthey ad the upper hand for most of the second half.

Dartford boss Tony Burman made a trio of substitutions in the 70th minute in a desperate bid to win the tie but his side was unable to find a way through past a resilient Leiston side.

The two sides face a replay at Princes Park on Tuesday night to decide who progresses to the first round proper of the FA Cup.
