The incident happened in Vale Road, Northfleet, close to the junction with Colyer Road and Park Avenue at around 8.25am on February 2 as the youngster walked to school.

Flowers, cards and basketballs have since been laid on the pavement near the scene in his memory and the college released a statement paying tribute to their "talented and enthusiastic" Year 7 student.

A teenager – who was also a pedestrian – from the Gravesend area was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and was released on bail until February 17 pending further inquiries.

The inquest – a legal hearing which ascertains the facts relating to a fatal incident – will be opened at 10am on Wednesday at County Hall in Maidstone.
