Long delays on the A2 coastbound between Bexleyheath and Dartford following crash

Two lanes were closed on the A2 following a crash.

There were severe delays on the coastbound stretch from the A2018 for Old Bexley Lane to junction 2 of the M25 for the Darenth Interchange, Dartford.

It is thought the accident involved a car, van and truck – but this has not been confirmed.

National Highways said there were long delays on the approach which were adding an hour to journey times but this has now cleared.

It urged drivers to “please plan ahead” as drivers queued back to Bexleyheath.

Two out of three lanes were closed but they were reopened as of 6.40pm.

There are still residual delays adding around 20 minutes to journey times.

Police have been contacted for further information.

There is also reports of heavy traffic on the A2 London-bound from junction 1 of the M2 for Strood to Halfpence Lane, Cobham.

It is thought the delays are because of a van fire.
