Strong winds closed the QEII bridge and caused traffic tailbacks at the Dartford Crossing yesterday (Thursday).
The Highways Agency shut the river crossing at about 1pm for safety reasons and did not re-open it again until the early hours of Friday morning, following Met office warnings.
Traffic was split between the tunnels, with Essex-bound traffic using the west bore and Kent-bound motorists diverted through the east bore.
