CCTV image released after witnesses saw ‘handgun’ being used during road argument in William Munday Way, Dartford

A CCTV image has been released following reports of an argument which saw the passenger brandish a ‘handgun’ according to witnesses.

Police were called to an altercation in William Mundy Way, Dartford, involving two people on a bike and another road user.

The incident happened at around 6.55pm on May 24. Members of the public watched as it unfurled with one spotting the pillion passenger reaching into a bag and revealing what they believed to be a handgun, before all parties then left.

Officers attended the area and completed a search, assisted by a police helicopter.

Nobody was arrested and enquiries are underway into the circumstances.

Police have since launched an appeal asking for information and issuing CCTV footage of two people who may be able to help with investigations.

Detective inspector Peter Smith, said: “We have been investigating this incident and are now able to release a CCTV image of two people officers would like to speak to.

“Unfortunately their faces cannot be seen but we want to hear from anyone who might recognise their clothing or the bike they are riding.

“Anybody who recognises them should contact our appeal line. Drivers with dashcam are also urged to check for relevant footage.’
