Future of hospital decided

Treatment is coming to an end at Tunbridge Wells' homeopathic hospital - one of only five such hospitals in the UK.

The decision to stop its funding by the end of the financial year was taken unanimously by West Kent Primary Care Trust at an open board meeting in Dartford.

The board heard that less than one per cent of the trust's 650,000 population used homeopathy with the majority focussed in Tunbridge Wells.

Board member Julia Ross who led the consultation told the meeting "there is no data available to use to quantify the relative health gains so value for money is not proven in our minds."
