Allan Tait could make his long-awaited Dartford debut against Cambridge City this Saturday.

Tait played for Blue Square South Basingstoke last season and manager Tony Burman was hoping he could add the goals the Darts need as they go for promotion.

Burman, pictured, said: “He’s got a calf strain which he picked up in the second training session of the pre-season. He’s running now and maybe he’ll be involved on Saturday."

The Darts boss also has injury worries over Jay May, who has a groin injury, while Lee Noble is suffering with a bruised toe.

While senior players have been sidelined the youngsters have shone, with striker Adam Burchell scoring four pre-season goals.

An 84-day suspension kicks in at the start of September, but the player will be available for selection in the early weeks of the season.

Burchell scored twice and Elliot Bradbrook got the other in a 3-0 win at Witham last Saturday.

A sell-out crowd of 4,022 saw a full-strength Millwall win 4-1 at Dartford on Tuesday, giving Darts another bumper pay day. Ryan Hayes scored a consolation from the penalty spot with 18 minutes left.
