Dartford boss Tony Burman welcomes break after game versus Lewes

Dartford manager Tony Burman hopes a rare blank midweek will help his side rest ahead of the Blue Square Bet South season’s final chapter.

Saturday’s defeat at Staines brought an end to a five-match unbeaten run but Burman is hopeful his side can make it one defeat in 10 games when they host Lewes (kick-off 1pm) at Princes Park on Saturday.

After that they have a full week off before travelling to St Albans, with whom they drew 2-2 in a rollercoaster game at Princes Park on Tuesday.

Burman, pictured, said: "It’s the first free week we’ve had since the second week of January so we’ll make the most of it.

"We still have eight games remaining and we want to get as many points as we can. Our first target is still 50 points but if we can get into that top 10, then that would be an excellent achievement.

"We’ve got Lewes next who are another team fighting for their lives and it’s not going to be easy."
