Tony Burman is hoping his star striker Charlie Sheringham will start the new season like he ended the old one

Dartford manager Burman concluded his negotiations with last season’s squad by securing the services of his leading scorer for another year.

Sheringham (pictured) took some time to settle in at Princes Park but ended the season on a high, finishing with 19 league goals to his name.

Burman is now hoping Sheringham, who scored 10 goals in the last nine games, can lead Dartford from the front as they go in search of a promotion spot next season.

"He had a better second half of the season and he showed his true potential," said Burman.

"We are delighted he has decided to stay on and accept our offer. I think it’s a good move for him.

"He won a lot of people over last season, in the second part, and he can start the new one knowing that he has everyone behind him now – I think that will help him.

"He and a few other lads have settled into things and they know what it’s about. With a year’s experience under their belt hopefully they can go and perform from the start of next season."
