Three lanes were closed while emergency services attended and there were long delays in the area.

One eyewitness said firefighters were quickly on the scene, and the road was opened as quickly as possible after the area was made safe.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said two fire engines attended and crews wearing breathing apparatus worked to extinguish the fire.

No casualties were reported and the cause is not yet known.

Crews were on the scene for just over an hour.
