Tolls reinstated at Dartford crossing after crash on M25 causes delays

Tolls at the Dartford Crossing have been reinstated after a multi-vehicle crash earlier.

Congestion built up at the crossing after the serious crash between two lorries at the toll booths at about 10.40am - with traffic stretching back to before the Swanley interchange.

The Highways Agency suspended charges northbound, after the crash closed the anti-clockwise M25 between junctions 31 and 30.

But they were back in force from just after 5.30pm after all lanes were reopened.

Rush hour drivers still faced delays of up to 45 minutes on their journeys.

Road users were told to follow a diversion via the feeder road from junction 31 to rejoin the M25 at junction 30.

The east tunnel at Dartford was also closed,with traffic passing through the west tunnel.
