An incredible match at The Valley saw Charlton hit back from two goals down to beat Cardiff City 5-4 on Tuesday night.

It was the Addicks' first home win in seven attempts and moved them five points clear of the Championship relegation zone.

City - who lost top spot following their collapse - were in cruise control after goals from Heidar Helguson (4) and Joe Mason (24).

But Addicks captain Johnnie Jackson, pictured, scored twice in the final six minutes of the first half, a top-corner rocket and a header, to draw Charlton level.

Dale Stephens put the hosts in front nine minutes after the break when his 40-yard free-kick caught out keeper David Marshall.

Charlton scored their fourth just before the hour as Danny Haynes headed home a Bradley Pritchard cross, then Rob Hulse made on five on 65 minutes.

That wasn't quite the end of the issue, with Cardiff's Craig Noone and Aron Gunnarsoon on target in injury-time to set up a tense finish.
