Charlton Athletic's 11-game unbeaten run came to a surprise halt on Sunday when they lost 1-0 at home to League 1 strugglers Walsall.

Addicks manager Phil Parkinson (pictured) was at a loss to explain the defeat, saying: "It was a terrible performance from us, I can't hide away from it. It's a performance I'm finding difficult to explain.

"It wasn't three or four players who had an off day, everyone did. You can't say anyone played well."

Walsall capitalised on Charlton's lacklustre display when Matt Richard thumped home the only goal of the game from 20 yards after 69 minutes.

Charlton have little time to dwell on the result as they face a Johnstone's Paint Trophy regional semi-final at Brentford on Tuesday night.
