The action group campaigning for Kent’s countryside has issued a cautious welcome to the government announcement that the ebbsfleet development could start next year.
CPRE Protect Kent said: "The regeneration potential of the Thames Gateway is undoubted, and we welcome the intent to finally unlock the opportunities to deliver housing at Eastern Quarry.”
They want the developers to build water and energy efficient homes, and not cut corners to provide quantity rather than quality.
They have also called for the developer to pay for all the infrastructure needs.
“Without these conditions being met, we feel that Ebbsfleet may well be a poisoned chalice for the government,” said a spokesman for the organisation.
