Dartford: Driver threatened with screwdriver in cash van robbery outside Aldi

Two masked men have robbed a security van driver outside a Kent supermarket.

Police were called at 3.30pm today to a report the driver had been approached by two men who threatened him with a screwdriver and demanded he hand over a money box.

The incident happened near Aldi in The Orchards Shopping Centre.

The victim handed over the cash box and the suspects left the scene in a dark coloured 4x4 which was being driven by a third man.

The two suspects wore black face masks. One was wearing black or blue trousers, black trainers and a beige jacket with a fur lined hood. He was around 5ft 8in and was of a medium to heavy build.

The second man wore a blue hooded top with blue trousers and blue trainers.

A man driving the vehicle was white and wearing a black puffer style coat with a black hat and white gloves.

The manager of the Aldi, who did not wish to be named, said he was unable to comment on an ongoing investigation.

Police had left the scene by 5.30pm.
