Car fire near Dartford Crossing causes long delays back to Lakeside

A car fire near the Dartford Crossing is causing long delays for motorists this afternoon.

The M25 clockwise is closed at J1A for the A206 Bob Dunn Way and there is congestion back to J30 for Lakeside and Tilbury.

It has also been reported that traffic is building on the opposite side back to J3, due to onlookers.

The road has reportedly been closed since around 2pm with the car fire situated just before the entry slip road.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews were called to reports of a car alight on the A282 southbound, near to the Dartford Crossing.

“Two fire engines attended and crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames. No injuries have been reported.”

The spokesman added that drivers are being advised to expect potential delays in the area and to check for traffic updates before travelling.
