Vehicle drives through Robinson Jackson estate agents in High Street, Swanley

Stunned staff at a Kent estate agents arrived at work to find a car had ploughed through the office.

Employees at Robinson Jackson in High Street, Swanley, turned up yesterday to find the windows shattered and car parts spread on the floor.

A woman has since been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

Branch manager Michelle Dean said she phoned to police to check there wasn't a fatality after being shocked at the scale of the wreckage.

She said: "I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened the rear office door.

"The glass had shattered and spread all over the desks, chairs and floor. I could see the police had been into the premises and made the building safe.

"The owner of the business arrived with the contractor to clear up the mess. We have been here for nine years now and have been very lucky this hasn't happened to us before.

"Fortunately for my staff this happened out of office hours.

"Our door has been bolted shut so we would ask our customers to knock on the back door for the time being until the repair work is done. We are open for business as usual."

A police spokesman said officers were called to the High Street at 3.31am to reports a car had crashed into a window.

A 31-year-old woman from Swanley was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and bailed while investigations continue.
