The Dartford Tunnel has now reopened after a broken down vehicle closed the left-hand bore.
The tunnel was closed while recovery was arranged and traffic was instead diverted to the east side crossing.
Two lanes were closed on the M25 and traffic was queueing on the anticlockwise carriageway from Junction 1A for the A206 in Dartford, to Junction 31 for the A1306 for Lakeside.
All lanes have now reopened but delays are still expected as two miles of queues have built up.
