Charlton suffered another blow to their League 1 automatic promotion hopes on Tuesday night.

Goals from defender Steve Elliott and on-loan striker Paul Heffernan gave Rovers a deserved victory on what turned into a nightmare evening for the Addicks.

They suffered an early blow when left-back Grant Basey was carried off with a suspected broken leg following a challenge from Dominic Blizzard.

Soon after Elliott volleyed Rovers in front and the home side then doubled their lead after the break when Paul Heffernan raced clear to crash home his first goal for the club.

Charlton were left to play the final 12 minutes with 10 men after an injury to substitute Dave Mooney, but they did manage the minor consolation of a goal deep into injury time from Therry Racon.
