Arsonists torch fence, shed and tree in Swanscombe

A blaze which destroyed a garden shed, a fence and a tree is believed to have been started deliberately.

Crews were called to Ames Road in Swanscombe, at around 9pm, after a fence adjoining a garden was set alight.

The blaze destroyed around six metres of fencing, and spread to a shed and conifer tree, both of which were also destroyed.

A further 10 metres of fencing was damaged along with some garden ornaments in neighbouring properties.

Firefighters used a main jet and a high-pressure hose reel jet to extinguish the flames.

There were no reports of any injuries.

The cause of the fire is thought to be suspicious due to signs of deliberate ignition, and Kent Police has been notified.
