A spokesman for the Kent Police Tactical Operations team said: “PTT2 were on patrol when they noticed the driver of this van on their mobile phone.

“Unhappy with their attitude and behaviour PTT2 decided to search the vehicle. Multiple kilograms of suspected ecstasy pills were located.”

After a final count, it was announced that there were approximately 2,500 pills found.

The value of the haul was in excess of £1.25 million.

A Kent Police spokesman confirmed officers made the discovery at 12:45pm on Tuesday, July 25.

He said: “A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of a quantity of suspected controlled drugs and the driver, a man in his 60s, was arrested and taken into custody.”

The investigation has now been handed over to the Metropolitan Police.
