Appeal after accident on A2 near Dartford

A driver was seriously injured and part of the A2 closed for five hours after a two-car crash.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the accident on the A2 coastbound carriageway between Wilmington and the M25 junction at Dartford at around 8.00pm last night.

A silver Vauxhall Astra collided with a green Kia Rio and then rolled over, landing on its roof.

The 21-year-old Astra driver, from Swanley, was taken to a London hospital with serious injuries to his chest and shoulder. The two passengers in the Astra and the five people in the Rio were all uninjured.

Police closed the coastbound carriageway for five hours to allow emergency teams to deal with the incident, but it was reopend at 1am today.
