Anxious parents in Dartford and Gravesend have set up an online crime watch following warnings a man has been trying to lure school children into his car.

Mums and dads in north Kent are posting reports of suspicious behaviour and reinforcing the 'stranger danger’ message on the internet pages, hosted by social networking site Facebook.

More than 3,200 members have signed up to the group, 'Keep the School Children of Kent Safe’, in response to alerts last week that a man in a silver car had been approaching children as young as eight on their way to and from schools in north Kent.

Jacquie Rose and Lee Karnovski, who created the group, say it was in response to a lack of information from schools about the potential threat.
