Website sends fans Down Memory Lane

CANTERBURY CITY want past players, administrators and supporters to contribute their memories to a new website feature.

Down Memory Lane will feature those occasions that stand out in the memory of those who have played or watched City over the last 50 years.

The idea came from ex-player Bill Denton who shared his memories of the 1-0 win against European Cup finalists Reims in August 1962 in front of a crowd of 2,000 at Kingsmead Stadium.

Vice-chairman Keith Vaughan said he hoped the new feature would prove to be a popular addition to the website, www.canterburycityfc.com and was even considering contributing his own "favourite" memory.

He said: "Sadly my contribution would come from the Swindon FA Cup match in 1968 when we were just a few minutes from gaining a scoreless draw and bringing the then League Cup holders back to Kingsmead.

"I was chatting to friends about the arrangements for the replay when Swindon got their late, and undeserved, winner."
