SAGGERS: heel injury

FORMER England pace bowler Martin Saggers missed out on Kent's opening championship clash of the summer against Durham in Canterbury today.

Saggers, who has been struggling with a heel injury of late, was left out of the Kent 12, leaving Amjad Khan and Simon Cook to share the new ball after Durham won the toss and elected to bat on a bright, yet chilly morning.

The visitors lost overseas player Micky Lewis at the last minute when he injured his hamstring in the pre-match warm-up.

Kent: Key, Fulton, van Jaarsveld, Walker, Stevens, Dexter, O'Brien, Patel, Cook, Khan, Joseph.
