Rugger club’s resources stretched

TWO games in 24 hours will stretch Canterbury Rugby Club’s resources as they fight a league relegation battle with Harlow on Saturday and meet Sheppey in the second round of the Kent Cup the following day.

Both are at home with Saturday’s kick-off at 2.15pm and a Sunday start at 2pm.

They introduce fresh blood with fly-half Callum Harrison, a New Zealander, making his debut against Harlow and scrum-half Eoin Stewart back in the squad after a three month lay-off through injury.

With Chris Sweet unavailable, Sean Pilcher is at centre.

Coach Mark Hanslip also makes a switch in the back row where Andy Bernthal moves to No 8 and Leon White takes the blindside flanker’s jersey.

For Sunday’s game the club give an opportunity in a much-changed squad to new signing Alan Finch, a former Hertford wing, and young centre Justin Benjamin, while Ed Coy is in line for his senior debut.
