Financial incentive for Kent in finale

NIALL O'BRIEN: Continues to deputise for England international Geraint Jones

KENT’S squad could boost their bonus fund to the tune of £50,000 this week should they hold on to second spot in the Frizzell Championship first division.

David Fulton’s side go into their final game of the season at home to Middlesex on Thursday knowing victory will make it hard for the chasing pack of Surrey, Sussex and Middlesex.

Kent take an eight-point lead over Surrey into the final match, but they may yet be hampered by further injuries.

The hosts, who have no overseas player to select, are also without Martin Saggers (knee) and Matt Dennington (fractured hand) and will give a late fitness test to Amjad Khan, who has a strained right ankle and could yet be replaced by Ben Trott.

Wicketkeeper Geraint Jones is on ICC Champions Trophy duty with England and Niall O’Brien will again deputise.

Middlesex have named a 12-man squad: Sven Koenig, Ben Hutton, Owais Shah, Ed Joyce (Capt), Paul Weekes, Jamie Dalrymple, Ben Scott, Simon Cook, Stuart Clark, Melvin Betts, Nantie Hayward and Chris Peploe.
