CANTERBURY Fencing Club dominated the South East qualifier for the Great Britain sabre championships, achieving 16 top three finishes.

The club sent an entry of 50 fencers to the Whitgift School, Croydon, a record 20 of whom have qualified for the nationals at Stoke-on-Trent in February.

Canterbury’s supremacy was no where better illustrated than in the under-14 boys where they filled the top five places through Sam Edmundson , Henry Davis, Niall Dowse, Luke Bugler and Jacob Gander-Compton.

They were almost as dominant in the under-12 girls category with Fennala McLuskie filling first place followed, in order, by Georgia Phipps, Poppy Cooper and Laura Gladish.
