Dexter a doubt for Surrey clash

Surrey Browncaps v Kent Spitfires

Weather permitting Kent will hope to return to NatWest Pro40 League action on Tuesday night when they take on fifth-placed Surrey Browncaps at the Brit Oval.

The day-night Division 2 match is scheduled for a 4.10pm start and Kent will be keen to play having had Sunday's clash with Northamptonshire rained off, meaning they dropped out of the promotion spots and into fourth.

However, a win in Kennington tonight would take Kent up to 10 points and see them leapfrog Glamorgan and Yorkshire to claim back second place with one game remaining, that against leaders Essex.

Yasir Arafat (side), Azhar Mahmood (knee) and Justin Kemp (back) again look set to miss out through injury and batsman Neil Dexter may join them if he fails to shake off the effects of a bruised right shoulder, the legacy of a flying stop on the boundary in Saturday's tense championship finish against Yorkshire.

It won't help Dexter's cause that an allergy to ibuprofen means he cannot take anti-inflammatory tablets and, if the swelling around the joint fails to reduce, he may require a pain-killing injection if he is to be available tonight or for Thursday's start to Kent's four-day LV Championship match also against Surrey starting at Canterbury from 10.30am.

Kent from: Key, Denly, Dexter, van Jaarsveld, Stevens, Jones, McLaren, Tredwell, Cook, Saggers, Khan, Walker, Blake.
