CANTERBURY ladies go into their weekend matches looking to cement their place on the EHL Premier 1 play-offs.

They entertain struggling Trojans on Saturday before travelling to play-off rivals Slough on Sunday and wins in both games would all but secure a spot in the round-robin Super Cup at Guildford on April 30-May 2.

Skipper Mel Clewlow said : "If we win the two games I think we would be OK. Both games are important but Slough are our nearest opponents, three points behind so if we can beat them on Sunday the gap would be six with only two matches remaining.

"They lost their last match against Hightown 5-0 but we heard that the game was a lot closer than that, and they still have some good players.

"Jane Smith is a match-winner in herself and we know from past experience that we mustn’t give away too many short corners."

Amy Tran returns to keep goal for the women after her recent training camp in America but missing will be Jenny Milne, who is on holiday.
