CANTERBURY's international hockey star Mel Clewlow is in the running for a top award. She is one of five candidates shortlisted for the BBC South East Today sports personality of the year competition.

Her rivals are athlete Kelly Holmes, Brighton Bears basketball coach Nick Nurse, British Superbike champion Shane Byrne and leading women’s bowler Carol Ashby.

Votes should be sent to BBC South East Today, The Great Hall, Mount Pleasant Road, Tunbridge Wells TN1 1QQ. The winner will be announced on Sunday, December 7.
