Canterbury City back with a bang

CANTERBURY City made their long-awaited return to Kent football on Saturday with an empathic 5-0 victory over Borden in the Kent County League League, Division 2 at Bridge Recreation Ground.

Callum McGeehan put City ahead before Wayne Fittall netted a hat-trick and Lee Austin got the fifth against their Sittingbourne-based opponents.

Of equal importance to the result was the fact more than 180 spectators turned out for the game.

These included Kent FA officials, Canterbury city councillors and parish councillors who were there to back the club's determination to bring senior football back to the city.
