Your chance to be Lord Mayor for a day

A young person is being given the chance to lord it up for the day as the district’s civic head.

As part of Local Democracy Week, someone aged between 10 and 18 will accompany the Lord Mayor as she carries out her civic duties.

Cllr Carolyn Parry will also invite her guest to the Lord Mayor’s Parlour to see the civic regalia and try on the chain of office.

To be in the a chance of winning, applicants should write up to 250 words on the subject 'what would I do if I ruled the world for a day’.

A prize haul of art equipment is also on offer to the young person who draws or paints the best portrait of Cllr Parry.

The competition is being organised by the city council and is open to five to 11-year-olds who live in the district.

Entries for both competitions should be sent to Nicky Gould, Community Development, Canterbury City Council, Military Raod, Canterbury, CT1 1YW or email nicky.gould@canterbury.gov.uk by Friday, October 17.
