Young waitress assaulted in underpass

A 19-year-old waitress on her way to work was approached by a man who grabbed her and tried to kiss her.

The young woman managed to escape and was not injured but her jacket was ripped.

The incident happened in the St George’s Place underpass in Canterbury just after 6am on Wednesday, December 6.

The victim ran off towards the Netto store where a delivery driver helped her and called the police.

The man is described a white, aged between 35 and 40, and wearing a three-quarter length green jacket and blue jeans. He was of slim build with short brown hair and unshaven.
