Boy found wandering undressed in Chilham during early hours

A child was found wandering naked and alone in the street during the early hours of this morning and was found by a passing motorist.

The boy was found in the street by the driver just before 4.45am near Bagham Cross, in Chilham.

The child, who was unable to speak English was later taken to hospital to get checked over after police were called to the scene at 4.44am.Paramedics were also sent to the area and the boy was later reunited with his parents.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "Officers attended and the child was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

"Inquires were carried out to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident before the child was reunited with their parents."

A villager who didn't want to be named called the incident a "distressing event".

It is not yet known how the child became lost in the street.
