A murder hunt has been launched after a 51-year-old woman was found dead in a field near Canterbury.

The victim's body was discovered at around 1am in green space called Pickett's Field at Chartham on Sunday.

The field backs on to Royal British Legion Club in Bolts Hill, which officers are using as a base for their investigation.

Forensic teams were carrying out a search at the scene all morning.

The woman, believed to live nearby, has not yet been identified.

A post mortem has been carried out but police have not revealed the cause of death.
